Always observant and looking at life-size dwellings for inspiration, Pat Balazs recorded her findings and minute details in a journal. Whether attending a miniatures show or strolling a quiet historic street, seeds were planted that took blossom in shape, texture and color. Her bins of yet-to-be-placed items are like special ingredients for a soup yet to be combined - but the flavor is rich.
Pat learned that working in cardboard allowed her to quickly and efficiently work out design details before cutting into plywood. This also enabled her to decide upon crucial placement of wiring and choreograph the installation of walls and doorways. Working like an architect, interior designer and gardener rolled all into one is a trait she embodied. And when her skills limited what she wanted to include, she purchased fine accessories that complimented her work. A list of those contributors are listed in each house section.
But the outstanding quality in her miniature environments conveys the feeling of authenticity. You can imagine actually living inside one of her creations.
